National Custodians Day is a special day to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of our school custodians. These unsung heroes work tirelessly to keep our school buildings clean, safe, and comfortable for students, staff, and visitors. From sweeping floors and mopping hallways to emptying trash and sanitizing surfaces, our custodians play a vital role in ensuring a healthy and positive learning environment for all. Let's take a moment to thank our custodians for their outstanding service and commitment to our school community.

Bus six is running 15 to 20 minutes behind this morning.
The Down Syndrome Awareness Walk will take place this Sunday, September 29th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the PBL High School Track and the Back Parking Lot. This event is open to anyone and everyone, including parents, students, staff, community members, and more. There will be games and activities from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM, a hot dog meal provided, Old Salty's Food Truck, and more. At 1:15 PM, there will be one ceremonial lap (1/4 mile) completed around the track. All are encouraged to wear blue and yellow to show their support. We hope to see you there!
Due to the wind advisory starting this afternoon, the Alumni Hall of Fame Meet & Greet will be relocated to the high school lobby from 5:30 to 6:40. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate Carl Hudson Jr. and Paul Meuser for their remarkable achievements!
Elizabeth Megson is a Senior at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School who qualified as a Semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship. Approximately 16,000 students (the top 1%) have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. In order for Semifinalists to advance to the Finalist level, they must fulfill several requirements. About 95% of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. We are SO PROUD of Elizabeth. She exemplifies hard work, is actively involved in various extracurricular activities, has a positive rapport with friends and teachers, and is a very driven student. We're excited and want to congratulate her!
Today Ford County students will be reflecting on their attendance in the first 5 weeks of school. Students will be tracking how many days they have been present versus how many days they have been absent. At this point in the school year, missing more than three days in the first 5 weeks of school puts a student on track to being chronically absent. When your child returns home from school today, ask them about their attendance. #bepresentbepowerful

We recently took our PBL high school students to the Illinois Regional College Fair on September 9th, where they had the opportunity to explore over 60 different higher education institutions at Parkland College.
Attending school regularly is extremely important to your child's academic success. Missing just two days of school a month can lead them to a student being considered a chronic absentee. Let's work together this school year to ensure our students are attending school regularly and making the most out of the 2024-2025 school year. #bepresentbepowerful

Week 1 in the books! Our teachers and students are thriving. We're excited to see what this year brings.
Ford County Schools (GCMS, PBL, Tri-Point) are partnering together to decrease chronic absenteeism in our schools. We have worked with the Champaign-Ford County Regional Office of Education to secure an attendance liaison, to work strictly with Ford County Schools. We will be hosting monthly visits at our school with the ROE Attendance liaison during the school day. These visits aim to address the importance of consistent school attendance.
