The PBL Junior High speech team returned home October 29th with 6 first place medals, and 1 second place ribbon following their annual competition. The IESA contest was held on Saturday, October 29th at St. John’s in Buckley. Other teams attending the competition included Cissna Park, Fisher, St. Malachy, Milford, St. John’s, and Tri-Point.
PBL was represented by 12 students who participated in 7 different events. Awarded first place medals were the duet acting groups of Lilly Schaumburg and Jeri Dunlavey, Hallee Johnson and Audrey McCoy, Maddi DeOrnellas and Kylie Rust. Also earning first place medals for their small group acting were Kylie Rust, Maddi DeOrnellas, Hallee Johnson, and Audrey McCoy who presented “Going Local.” Lilly Schaumburg, Jeri Dunlavey, Paityn Badgley, Cole Ostendorf, and Tessa Wurmnest also received a first place medal for their performance of “Fe Fi Fo Flub.” Our final group presented “Variations” also received a first place medal were, Ella Strebeck, Tessa Wurmnest, Zach Grohler, and Lili Manrriquez.
Earning second place honors was Cole Ostendorf for his solo performance, “My Sister.”
Each judge also gives a Judge’s Choice Award for their favorite first place performance of the day. Congratulations to Paityn Badgley, Jerilyn Dunlavey, Lily Schaumburg, Tessa Wurmnest, and Cole Ostendorf for their performance of “Fe Fi Fo Flub.”
