Congratulations to Paxton Buckley Loda High School January Artist of the Month Senior, Maggie Neff AND February Artist of the month, Senior, Quim Uribe-Rodrigeuz
Maggie is an Art IV student. She created a 3-dimensional artwork using ceramic tiles, acrylic paint, styrofoam, and glitter. It is titled "Party of One". The piece also won first place at the Small Works Art Show in December. When asked about the artwork she shared it was taxing to glue the glitter to create the disco ball--taking a total of 8 hours for just that component.
Quim is an Art II student. She created a graphite pencil self-portrait drawing. Students were given the option of editing their photo in a silly way; noted in her large eyes and lips. The work can also be seen on display at the Eric Show beginning in March at the Illini Union Gallery. Quim did a great job asking questions to push her artwork to the next level seen in the gentle form created in her face.
Thank you to this month's sponsors Paxton IGA, Paxton DQ, and Frederick Community Bank. Maggie and Quim are now in the running for Artist of the Year which will take place in May.
