Leah Brown named PBL High School’s Student of the Month
Leah Brown of Paxton has been named student of the month for January at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School.
Leah, a senior, is the daughter of Clara and Alan Brown. She was nominated for the award by teacher Emily Wood.
Mrs. Wood stated in her nomination, “It is my pleasure to nominate, senior, Leah Brown, for February student of the month. I have known Leah throughout her high school career and it has been such a joy to see her grow as a student, person, and artist. I have been so impressed by the growth I have seen in her concerning her work ethic, attitude, and desire to really challenge herself over this past school year. She has really taken a step out of her comfort zone in the art classroom in trying new materials and experimenting with different subject areas than she ever has before. She knows herself well and this allows her to be a good friend and student. Her work ethic and drive are also admirable. She has a career goal in mind for the future and she is doing everything in her power now to prepare for that. It is really neat to see! Not only has Leah found success in the art room, but also in all of her other courses. She currently holds a 3.8 GPA, is a NHS member, band member, and art league member. Because of the growth Leah has shown throughout her high school career both as a person and student, I believe she is very worthy of this recognition.”
The student of the month award is sponsored by the Farmers-Merchants Bank of Illinois. The award recognizes PBL High School students who demonstrate the school district’s mission of “Excellence through rigor, relevance, and relationships.” Teachers nominate students and the winner receives $50 and the other nominees receive a $5 Just Hamburgers gift certificate. Keagan Busboom and Tyler Smith were also nominated for student of the month. Congratulations to Leah, Keagan, and Tyler!
