Rebekah Zhao Named PBL High School’s Staff Member of the Month
Mrs. Zhao, sophomore English teacher, has been named staff member of the month for October at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School.
Mrs. Zhao was nominated for the award by several students, which include seniors Ashton Goss and Tera Brown. Sophomore students Losa Suaava, Mya Olivares, and Cadence Jones submitted nominations for Mrs. Zhao.
Mrs. Zhao must really have an impact on her students since two senior students nominated her. She has established relationships with students while being a very effective teacher. Tera Brown stated that “Mrs. Zhao has always been really understanding and can sense when students are struggling. She is one of the friendliest teachers I know, and she’s always going to extra lengths to make sure her students are learning the best they can. Her classroom is a safe place for people, and she is someone you can talk to if you’re ever having issues at home or school. Ashton Goss shared that “Mrs. Zhao is the best teacher in the building. She always greets me with a smile in the hallway, and when I had her as a teacher she made learning the best.
Cadence Jones stated in her nomination, “Mrs. Zhao is always willing to help others and if you ever have a question about anything she will be at your desk to help in no time.” Another sophomore, Losa Suaava, said "Mrs. Zhao is really laid back and she will always help you when you have questions and helps you actually understand. She's the sweetest teacher and she's very reasonable and helpful. She makes class more interesting and gives you something to look forward to in school. Mya Olivares said that she believes “Mrs. Zhao always tries her best to be there for her students. She always takes time to help her students and is very flexible and understanding. She is very kind and takes others’ situations into perspective. She has always been one of my favorites and always will be!”
The staff member of the month award was presented by Principal Travis Duley. The award recognizes PBL High School staff members who play an important role in the lives of young adults, families, and society. This award was established to recognize outstanding people for their dedication, professionalism, and work. Nominations are made by PBL High School students. The other staff members that were nominated for October Staff Member of the Month are Mr. Powers, Mr. Schonauer, Mrs. Wyatt, Mrs. Pickens, Mr. Slack, Ms. Mauck, Mr. Bodine, Mr. Hess, Mr. Pool, Mr. Vaughn, Mrs. Ager, Mr. Niebuhr, and Mr. Blacker.
