Spring is here, and the members of our 7th grade Gardening Club are hard at work. They have been spending their lunch recess time clearing brush, planting bulbs, spotting early blooms, and weeding. Yesterday, the group walked over to the PBL FFA Greenhouse to check out the beautiful selection of flowers and started daydreaming about colorful annuals to plant around the perimeter of the school garden.

The PBL Boys Basketball program will be running a camp for boys May 19th-22nd. This camp is for boys entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade next school year. Deadline to sign-up and receive a shirt is May 2nd. Late sign-ups will not be guaranteed a shirt. Forms may be turned into the PBL JH office, Coach Gooden, or Coach Hatfill.

The fair will be open throughout the school day and after school until 3:45PM every day in the Junior High Library.
This book fair will be a BOGO Fair, in which everything in the fair will be buy one item, get one item of equal or lesser value for free!

The PBL High School and Junior High is seeking a qualified musical accompanist service individual and/or provider to support our dynamic high school and junior high choral programs for the upcoming academic year in 2025-2026. Support PBL Junior High School student Jaxen Peacock at Monical's Pizza in Paxton on Thursday, April 17, 2025! Monical's is hosting a Community Day for COTA in Jaxen's honor as he recovers from a double lung transplant. 20% of all carry-out and dine-in orders will be donated to COTA for Warrior Jax to help with medical expenses. This week, 6th Grade ELA students took over their classrooms by choosing a topic related to their recent texts to learn more about. Students conducted research and created posters with information about their topic, then completed a gallery-style exhibition to teach their classmates all about what they learned.

The 7th grade students have been learning about potential and kinetic energy this quarter. They worked on making a contraption that would protect an egg from cracking when dropped from the top of the bleachers at the football field. EVERY STUDENTS EGG SURVIVED!!! Afterwards they calculated how much kinetic and potential energy their contraptions had by weighing their projects and timing how long it took for them to fall to the ground.

We would like to congratulate and recognize the PBL Junior High 7th & 8th Grade Jazz Band for their performance on Friday, April 4th, at the Central High School Jazz Festival in Champaign, Illinois. The Jazz Band performed at 5:40 PM, alongside several other junior high and high school groups from the surrounding area. Mrs. Dayna Breen, the band's director, commended the students on a job well done and looks forward to their continued musical growth. Their next performance will be this Friday, April 11th, at the ISU Jazz Festival at Illinois State University at 3:15 PM.
Paxton Police Share Digital Safety Insights with Junior High Students. Officer Colon and Officer Ryan from the Paxton Police Department recently concluded a series of valuable digital safety presentations for all our students during grade level class time. Over the past month, these sessions covered crucial topics such as the dangers of social media and understanding one's digital footprint. The final presentation took place today, April 7th, where Officer Colon and Officer Ryan met with our 7th grade students during their science class with Mr. Rubarts. We extend our sincere gratitude to Officer Colon and Officer Ryan for dedicating their time to connect with our students on this important and relevant topic.
