We recognize our paraprofessional educators, also known as teacher assistants or para pros, for their dedication to students and teachers. They assist in classrooms, support enrichment activities, help with assignments, and work with students with special education needs. Their role is essential to student success. The PBL Junior High 5Essentials Survey window closed on Friday, March 28th. We are pleased to announce that the junior high successfully met all necessary targets to generate a comprehensive report and data for school improvement plans. Survey participation was strong, with 96% of students, 75% of staff, and 21% of parents completing the survey. We extend our sincere gratitude to our entire learning community for their participation.
On Friday, March 28th, M&P Presentations energized our junior high with a fantastic morning assembly! The students and staff had an absolute blast, with incredible student participation throughout the entire presentation. Matt and Phil's message of "embracing the awkward" and building confidence really resonated, sparking tons of interactive moments. We saw genuine connections form through music, laughter, and students enthusiastically supporting each other. Mark your calendars! Market Street Grill in Paxton is sponsoring a community night for COTA for Warrior Jax on Wednesday, March 26th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Jaxen Peacock is a PBL Junior High School 6th grader who is recovering from a double lung transplant. 10% of all dine in sales will go to COTA for Warrior Jax to help cover medical expenses. Come join us and support a great cause!
Our 6th through 8th grade students will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness Test on their school Chromebooks during our testing window from March 25th through April 10th. During this testing window, students in each grade level will complete two (2) ELA assessments and three (3) Math assessments. For testing, students will need headphones, and the school provides them. Makeup testing will take place from April 11th through April 17th. A big thank you to our Student Council for providing snacks to our students during IAR testing.
Here are some helpful testing reminders so that your child can do his or her best on the test:
• making sure, if possible, that your child attends school on the days of testing
• making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing
• providing breakfast on the mornings of testing (the junior high offers breakfast daily)
• reminding your child to ask the teacher questions if he or she does not understand the test directions
• letting your child know that you have confidence in his or her ability to do his or her best
• advising your child not to stress about the test—just do the best he or she can

Happy Pi Day!! In our classes today we celebrated by learning some fun facts about pi and then creating a poster using those fun facts.
The Parent Choral Boosters are hosting a Mystery Murder Dinner on Saturday, March 29, at the Pueblo Lindo Event Center from 6:00-9:00 pm. The event is meant for adults and all proceeds will be used by the Booster Club to support both Chorus classes and Musicals at the Jr. High and High School levels. We would like to invite you to provide feedback to assist us in driving our school improvement efforts. The 5Essentials Survey, which will help schools and districts identify areas of strength and those in need of support, is open until March 28. There is an optional parent survey that goes along with the teacher and student survey. PBL schools will get a report from the parent survey if the school achieves a 20% response rate. We are asking that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
