
Mrs. Harrison's math class worked on a math superhero game and competition in class today. Students were able to pick several classic superhero pictures and unlock the superheroes strength, speed, intelligence, and gadgets through math equations.


All during November we have been promoting our attendance campaign with Attend Today - Achieve Tomorrow. Attached are pictures from our Friday drawing for 6th-8th grade students. The winning students got their name drawn in a raffle & can have lunch ordered for them & friend.

We had 5 students selected for the ILMEA All District Honor Band through a competitive audition process back in October. The students worked with nationally renowned band director, Rachel Maxwell, and performed a concert in the Olivet Nazarene University Centennial Chapel.



The PBL JH LEGO League Team will be holding an Open House on Monday, December 2nd in the JH Library and Rm. 610. All are welcome to attend and see the teams presentation as they prepare for their competition on Saturday, December 7th at the University of Illinois.

Mr. Coe's 7th Grade Social Studies Class has been working on projects creating famous monuments around the world. We currently have these displayed in the main hallway at the JH.

On Saturday November 2, 2019, the PBL JH Speech Team competed at St. John's in an IESA Speech Competition for Area 12. Elijah Tabor won a Judges' Choice Award for his solo acting performance of The Wizard of Oz.


7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball games vs. Prairie Central are canceled for tonight because PC is dismissing early due to weather.

Student Council is doing a plastic bottle cap collection to help create benches for our school. Student council has challenged the students to collect 225lbs. of bottle caps. If they make their goal the principal will take a pie in the face. 25lbs. collected & 200 more to go.

We are continuing to work in communicating the importance of daily attendance with our Attend Today - Achieve Tomorrow campaign. During the month of November we are doing different attendance incentives & drawings to recognize student attendance. See the winners from Friday.

On Friday, November 1st our Student Council held its first dance of the year in the Commons Area. The students had a great time as we welcomed in the month of November.

On Thursday, October 31st PBL JH Student Council members visited Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living to hand out candy and visit with residents. The Student Council members had a great time and enjoyed making a connection with the residents.


On Monday Students and Staff participated in the Student Council Red Ribbon Week theme with Disney Character Day.


6th Grade Students in Mrs. Pondel's Science class were able to pick the natural disaster they wanted to study. The students worked in groups, held discussions, and had a student lead the group in a roll called "The Big Cheese."


Today PBL JH visited Jefferson Middle School for the second part of the Student Exchange. Our students had a great experience, made some new connections, and brought back some new ideas. This was our 3rd year in partnering with Jefferson Middle School for a Student Exchange.

Mrs. Williams 8th Grade Advisory Class challenged Mrs. Grice's 8th Grade Advisory Class to see who could wear more red during Red Ribbon Week. Mrs. William's class won by a small margin, but in the end they are all winners.


PBL JH wanted to thank Jefferson Middle School from Champaign, IL for visiting our school on October 16th as part of our student exchange partnership with JMS. On October 30th PBL JH will be visiting JMS for the day.


On October 8th our Medical Detectives Enrichment in 8th Grade had a special visitor with Dr. Reese from the Paxton Clinic & Gibson Area Hospital. This year our Medical Detectives Enrichment is partnering with Gibson Area Hospital to enhance the relevance of our curriculum.


Congratulations to Josiah Deatick, Madison Freed & Isaiah Geerdes and Grace McCoy & Kara Deatrick who were selected for the ILMEA All District Honor Band. These students were selected through a competitive audition process with other schools throughout Central Illinois.

On Monday, October 21st PBL JH hosted the Fall Band & Chorus Concert at 6:00pm in the PBL JH Gym.
