Each student at PBL junior high received a book from the current Rebecca Caudill list this week, to encourage reading at home and to encourage students to participate in the Rebecca Caudill Reading Challenge at the junior high. The Rebecca Caudill Award is a student choice award for the state of Illinois - the books are nominated by students, teachers, and librarians and students are the ones that choose the best book on the list every year! You can find more information about the Rebecca Caudill Award at their website: https://www.rebeccacaudill.org/
Students have until April 17th to complete the challenge. Students can stop in the library to check out one of these great books and join the challenge! Thank the PBL school district for donating these books to our students!

This is called Tumbling Towers. Students from Mrs. McMahon's and Mrs. Hasting's 6th grade math class played a Jenga like game. For each piece pulled from the tower, they must answer the correlating math problem on the card. We're using this as a review of basic skills we've covered so far this year such as: multiplying and dividing fractions, simplifying ratios, factors, squares and cubes.

Good News to Share at PBL JH. Each week, we celebrate student achievements with Good News Notes. These handwritten notes are a wonderful way to recognize students for their accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. Teachers and staff complete the Good News Notes to commend students, then deliver them to the main office. Administration personally delivers the notes to deserving students. The power of a handwritten note fosters positive relationships and creates a culture of positive growth.
