On Tuesday, October 3rd the Class of 2028 is having a Monical’s Community Day where each order will donate 20% back to the Class of 2028. This is for Carry Out or Dine-In purchases only and not delivery. All proceeds will go to the Class of 2028 and their fundraising efforts for this year and more.

On Tuesday, September 26th from 3:30pm-7:00pm in the PBL JH Library we held our Family Book Fair Night and our 8th Annual Edible Books Festival. The winners for the Edible Books Festival were 1st Place - Azriel Fitzpatrick and in a 2nd and 3rd Place tie - Shelby Sample and Anna Reber. We do have order forms at school and students can pick those up in the main office to take home. All school pictures will be taken in the Art Room.

On Thursday, September 21st the 8th grade students and staff visited The Hollocaust Exhibit - Courage to Remember in Gibson City, IL. Courage to Remember has traveled to more than 50 countries and been seen by more than 20 million visitors. The exhibit brought the past alive with large, illustrated panels that enable students and staff to read about the events of the Holocaust, as well as excerpts from first-person accounts of persecution and survival.

Due to a transportation issue, we will not be attending the JH cross country meet at Lake of the Woods tonight. (9/14) The team will practice at their normally scheduled time after school.

Art students at PBL Junior High are completing a unit in ceramics. Students are given an opportunity to schedule a time to stay after school to work on the potter’s wheel that was purchased from one of the many grants awarded by the PBL Education Foundation. 6th Grader, Lilly Mabry was the first student this year to take advantage of the opportunity to make a dish on the potter’s wheel. Her ceramic dish will be fired along with the projects made in class. Great job, Lilly!

The PBL JH LEGO League Team is preparing to start their season. Students interested in joining the team have to complete an application. LEGO League is a unique, cohesive group of students who are interested in applying their skills in an exciting competition while working within a team. In LEGO League, students will be working as a team to complete a series of challenges that include both designing and programming. This year’s challenge theme is looking at the incorporation of art into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). On Tuesday, August 22nd the staff at the PBL JH had a special lunch provided by Tanna Suits from Country Financial in Rantoul, IL. The staff at the JH enjoyed a burrito bar & more. A big thank you to Tanna for taking the time to organize this lunch and special treat for staff.

Congratulations to our very own Mr. Callahan. Mr. Callahan is an 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at PBL JH. Last weekend Mr. Callahan was presented with his certificate of completion from Officer Candidate School. Mr. Callahan is now a Second Lieutenant in the Illinois Army National Guard. In the picture Second Lieutenant Michael Callahan is with Major General Rodney Boyd, Assistant Adjutant General – Army of the Illinois National Guard and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard. Congratulations Second Lieutenant Michael Callahan and everyone at PBL is proud of you.
