Sofia Rebollo-Olivares (Alto 2)and Hunter Turner (Trombone 1), traveled to Olivet Nazarene University to perform with the Junior High Jazz II Band. Earlier this year they auditioned for the group and were selected to perform from our competitive region. They worked with the group all morning and performed in Centennial Chapel that afternoon. Sofia also had the opportunity to perform a solo during one of the jazz songs. In two weeks we will be traveling back to have students perform with the ILMEA Junior High Honor Concert Band as well.

In Mr. Harper's social studies class, they used the previously created student continents from their geography unit to stage an invasion simulation to re-create the Spanish invasion of the New World. Students who use their own maps got to experience and then reflect on how they believe the natives felt by having their land taken. The invaders approached it from the opposite direction of how important and influential technology was during that time.
