Ford County Schools are discussing the difference between truancy and chronic absence with students in their schools. Both truancy and chronic absence can impact a child's education, but they're not the same thing.
Truancy is when a student intentionally skips school without a valid excuse.
Chronic absence is when a student misses 10% or more of school days, regardless of the reason.
It's important to address both issues to support a child's academic success and well-being.

National Custodians Day is a special day to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of our school custodians. These unsung heroes work tirelessly to keep our school buildings clean, safe, and comfortable for students, staff, and visitors. From sweeping floors and mopping hallways to emptying trash and sanitizing surfaces, our custodians play a vital role in ensuring a healthy and positive learning environment for all. Let's take a moment to thank our custodians for their outstanding service and commitment to our school community.
